Djellza Pulatani

President & CEO; Director of Gender Equity and Human Rights Advocacy

Meet Djellza Pulatani, the visionary behind our initiative. Djellza is a 21 year old woman from an Albanian-American background and was born and raised in New York. Her family, originally from Gjakovë in Kosova, migrated to New York after her father's service to the UÇK. Currently, Djellza is pursuing a double major in International Studies and Theology on the Pre-Law Track at Fordham University, where she is an undergraduate student. Her unwavering passion lies in advocating for human rights. From a young age, Djellza has actively participated in various organizations that tackle pressing issues such as women's rights, reproductive rights, and sexual violence.

A staunch advocate against sexual violence, she took the initiative to establish the first-ever Committee of Sexual Misconduct within her school's United Student Government. Serving as both Vice President and President, she placed a strong emphasis on sexual violence prevention during her tenure. During her time working for New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand's Constituent Affairs team, Djellza worked diligently on issues pertaining to women's rights, sexual violence, incarceration, and legal matters. Collaborating with her partner, Dora Nano, Djellza is currently undertaking research that explores the repercussions of sexual assault on Kosovar women during the war and its impact on contemporary society. Their aim is to produce a documentary shedding light on the issue of sexual violence in Kosove.Earlier this year, Djellza organized a powerful rally in solidarity with survivors of sexual violence worldwide, sparked by a heinous assault that occurred in Pristina. Inspired by this event, Djellza felt empowered to contribute more to her community, leading to the birth of the F'Oda Summit—an endeavor aimed at effecting tangible change in the lives of young women in Kosove.

Djellza is presently in the process of establishing her own organization focused on safeguarding human rights. Her aspirations include pursuing a Masters of International Politics and attending law school to further her educational journey. Above all, her ultimate goal is to continue dedicating her life to helping others by amplifying the voices of those who have been silenced.
