Vjosa Osmani

Our first feature highlights the remarkable achievements of Dr. Vjosa Osmani-Sadriu, a highly accomplished Albanian leader. Dr. Osmani-Sadriu assumed office as President of the Republic of Kosova in April 2021. She graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Prishtina and completed her Master's and Doctoral studies at the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania. Prior to her presidency, Dr. Osmani-Sadriu was elected as the first female Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Kosova in February 2020. She also served as Acting President of the Republic of Kosova between November 2020 and March 2021. Dr. Osmani-Sadriu has been elected as a member of parliament four times, receiving the highest number of votes for any candidate in the history of the Republic of Kosova in the most recent election. Beyond her political achievements, Dr. Osmani-Sadriu is a devoted mother to two twin girls. Her ability to balance the responsibilities of motherhood with her demanding role as President underscores her resilience and exemplifies that women can excel in every aspect of their lives. Dr. Osmani-Sadriu's commitment to advancing women's rights is reflected in her work to increase women's representation in government and decision-making roles. Her leadership has paved the way for a more inclusive and equitable society. As we celebrate Women's History Month, let us draw inspiration from Dr. Osmani-Sadriu's journey continues working towards a world where women's voices are heard, and their contributions are recognized and valued. She is truly a beacon of hope for all girls both in Kosova and abroad that any woman and girl can realize all their goals, even as far as becoming the face of a nation.
